Double exposure fool!

Decided to try to expose doubly two old pictures tonight and it pretty much worked. Gotta work on exposure time and dodging during exposure but I'm happy with this for now!

Milner package!!

Usually when I hear that a friend is getting married my gut reaction is "that poor bastard". haha.  It's like the end of an era and time for that person to put his/her big boy/girl pants on and get a real job and go into debt and what have you. But when Ron Ron and TURD life advocate Danielle tied the knot they kept it real (see back cover) and put out a full length noise album.

On a recent skateboarding trip to The Big Stink, Ron Ron set me up with this John Milner You're So Boss care package. 

Milner, I'm really psyched on you. 

The album art, that depicts a dog and two peopleiods puking in the shape of a pentagram was drawn by Milner's own Matt Davey (far right). And the fact that Milner decided to press this offering on vinyl adds to the authenticity and stoke factor of the whole project. 

At 8:48 long (yes, both sides), the album crams in 12 boisterous songs that my Mom might refer to as "nightmare music". My favourite tracks are the loud as fuck "Meat Shits" and the more sedated "Hope Void". And I was especially psyched to hear "Taquitos" on the B-side because from what I can gather, it's a song about one of my guilty 7/11 pleasures.

It's so great to throw this on the turntable and hear friends doing good things on vinyl. And after Ron gave me the shirt I wore it for like 5 days straight. 

Milner plays shows pretty often in and around Toronto. Check their bloggy blog and check them out to support some local talent.

... Just kidding, its a just a wallie. Cool shot that my buddy Prashant took last weekend in the city. If you were able to see the other side of the lens you would see something quite rare. Skateboarders and BMX dudes sessioning the same jersey barrier at the very same time. A phenomenon usually seen only in the confines of a skatepark. As Prashant put it "we're bridging the gap". Thanks for the snapper home boy.

FINALLY, my issue of LAME CARVE 1.1 came in the post. With a sweet stamp, Van Gogh lookin' like he bout to chop that ear off. shhhhhhit.  Solid skate nerd zine from my good friend Ron Ron (Mr. Cotê) with a couple of old ads and skate photos that really brought me back. Remember that time Tom Penny (pretty much) made a comeback in the mid 2000's? Well its in there. Heath Kirchart kf bs lipping rails really really well before anyone else? Thats in there too. AVE, Kalis and a surprise appearance from Karl Watson(psyched) all grace the pages of 1.1. If you ever wanna talk to anyone about obscure skate magazine ads or old (or new for that matter) skate parts, contact the maker of this zine.

Pages 14+15 labelled "confusing art"can go any way you like. I see a Batman mask in a landfill. What do you figure? Maybe a huge tidal wave due to climate change ripping through a coastal town? Maybe?

Psyched on the first issue and I'm told by Ron (ref: white belly shaking video) that issue 2 is in the works and I can't wait to get that in the mail too. Also, beside myself with excitement to skateboard with Mr Cotê net weekend. Soul Carve. Lame Carve.

PS watch the video of Ron with the volume turned up, its a lot more satisfying.

I got this YO SICK package in the mail today from BMX aficionado, zine master extraordinaire and fine bearded gentleman Prashant Gopal. The package chronicles the trip that him and his buddies took to Barcelona to ride BMX bikes and, from what I can deduce from the state of youth culture these days, drink a whole bunch of exotic Spanish beers and puke all over a whole new continent. At 32 pages, the 12th issue of YO SICK is an accomplishment. Inside you will find original drawings, bro-cam shots, an awesome layout and computer scans that accompany the general good vibes of the issue. And the DVD is chalk full of riders chipping awesome skate ledges with their pegged bicycles. hahaha just kidding. the riding is top notch and the soundtrack includes the Marvin Gaye track, "Ain't Nothin Like the Real Thing". So its settled then, no matter if you ride a BMX bike or a skateboard, Motown will go really really well with your video part. 

Psyched on the package buddy! Great to see yet another solid issue of YO SICK.
